Ovate ("the app") is developed and operated by White Rabbit Games ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and what happens to it. Ovate is a tarot reading and self-reflection app; it does not require an account and does not sell your data to anyone.
Your readings, daily streak, favorites, mood notes, reversed-card preference, active deck, language choice, and quiz progress are stored locally on your device using standard app storage. We never see this data and it is never uploaded to our servers except for the specific pieces described below, sent only when you actively request an AI interpretation or scan a card.
When you draw cards and request an interpretation, the app sends the following to our server, which forwards it to an AI provider to generate your personalized reading:
This is processed by Google (Gemini API) as the primary provider, with Anthropic (Claude) used as a fallback if Gemini is unavailable. We do not store this request data ourselves — our server only relays it and returns the AI's response to your device.
If you use the camera or photo-library scan feature, the photo you capture or select is sent to our server, which forwards it to an AI vision provider (Anthropic, or Google Gemini as a fallback) to identify the card. The image is used only to answer that one recognition request — our server does not save it to disk or any database.
Deck skins and the optional Premium subscription are purchased through Google Play's billing system, which handles your payment details directly — we never see or store your payment information. Google's own privacy policy governs that transaction.
You can permanently delete everything stored on your device at any time from Profile → Delete all data. Since AI request data is never retained on our servers, there is nothing further to delete on our end once a request completes.
Ovate is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
If this policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
